Yarn: You will need approximately 1500 yards of fingering weight yarn in four colors: a main color and 3 contrasting colors. Generally, you’ll be fine with one skein of each of the contrasts and 3 skeins of the main color.

140 yards (128 meters) of contrast color 1 - the sample used Golden Sheep Fibers BFL Sock in the color Michelle’s Shells
200 yards (183 meters) of contrast color 2 - the sample used Emma’s Yarn Hella Hank in the color Jackie O
165 yards (151 meters) of contrast color 3 - the sample used Golden Sheep Fibers in the color Everything’s Rosy
Many of these yarns are no longer available; don’t be afraid to go stash diving for your favorite hanks of fingering yarn!
Hook: Size I/5.5mm or size needed to achieve gauge and a beautiful drape
Notions: tapestry needle, scissors, an optional stitch marker to keep your place
